Using Spotify on iPhone/iPad
On an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch), you can use AirPlay to transfer audio from Spotify to your speaker. If you are a Spotify Premium member, you can also use Spotify Connect. Read more about this below.
Spotify Connect is a wireless streaming technology offered by Spotify to their Premium subscribers. On the surface, it resembles AirPlay in almost every way, but the underlying technology is very different. As opposed to AirPlay (which transfers the music from the phone to the router and on to the speaker), Spotify Connect works as a direct link between the speaker and Spotify's servers. This results in three major advantages:
- Increased stability
- Being able to receive phone calls without the music stopping
- Being able to control playback from any device connected to your Spotify account (regardless of which devices initiated the playback)
To use Spotify Connect, you must be a Spotify Premium subscriber and use the latest version on your iOS or Android device. If these requirements are fulfilled, all you need to do is:
- Open the Spotify app on your iOS or Android device
- Select a song
- Click the Spotify Connect speaker symbol and select your speaker
Once the music has started, you can turn off your device, or use it for other purposes; the music will keep playing. If you wish to select new music, adjust the volume etc., simply use any Spotify app logged in to your account.

If you are not using an iOS device and are not subscribed to Spotify Premium, use Bluetooth to stream audio from Spotify to your Libratone speaker.
For instructions on how to pair using Bluetooth, see How to Pair Using Bluetooth.
